Are You Making These Skincare Mistakes?

Mistake 1: Over Cleansing your Skin.

You’ve maybe heard that cleaning your skin gets your face cleaner but it doesn’t. The more you cleanse your face, the more you remove the basic natural oils from your skin to keep it massaged and balanced, affecting excess dryness, more irritation, and more frequent breakouts. You only need to wash your face twice a day once in the morning to “wake up” the skin and at night to remove skins and makeup should be more than enough.

Mistake 2: Failing to Use Sunscreen.

Sunscreen is required daily for proper skincare and every day of the year. Many people skip sunscreen on cloudy days or in January because they assume the sun isn’t as much of an issue. Unfortunately, the sun’s rays enter clouds and through glass, so being inside or in the winter doesn’t spare you from previous aging and sun damage. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or more and apply it daily even if you’re at home.

Mistake 3: Too Many Products.

When it comes to skincare, excess is not the answer mainly when it comes to skincare. Slathering on too much or too potent actives will leave the skin confused, reactive, and irritated. A simple routine is best. In the morning, you need a cleanser, SPF, and cream. At night, you need a cleanser, treatment serum, and moisturizer. That’s all healthy skin requires.

Mistake 4: Forgetting the Neck.

The neck skin is thin and ages as fast if not faster than facial skin. But for some reason, it seems like everyone forgets it. Bring your cleanser, cream, and SPF down to the neck and chest. You’ll thank me later!

Mistake 5: Sleeping in Your Makeup.

What’s a safe way to get clogged pores, breakouts, and dull skin? Sleeping in your makeup. Always take a few minutes no matter how tired you are to remove your makeup and clean your skin. If you’re beyond pressed for time on those nights when you just can’t (and don’t want to), a quick fix is micellar water or wipes.

Final Thoughts.

Avoid these skincare mistakes and you’ll have guaranteed better skin. Don’t complicate the process of giving your skin what it needs. Many times, all it takes is one simple change for your skin to receive exactly what it needs to blossom and glow.
